Dare to Repair Cafe at Reinstein Woods!
June 1, 2019
10:00 am – 1:00 pm | Community Event
Dare to Repair Cafe will be at the Reinstein Wood Education Center on Saturday, June 1 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Bring your broken items (lamps, furniture, clothes etc.) to the repair cafe and have volunteer “fixers” try to repair the item for free. This event is designed to reduce waste going into landfills and build community. For more information, call (716) 683-5959 or visit the Reinstein Woods website. More information on what kinds of items can be repaired will be added as the date approaches.
Sometimes repairs are successful, and sometimes they aren’t. When an item can’t be fixed, volunteers may share suggestions for other avenues to explore.
This event can be very popular, so you may have to wait a little while to have your item examined. While you are waiting, Friends of Reinstein Woods will be offering light refreshments for sale to create the “cafe” atmosphere!
To make the event successful, we are in need of volunteer “repair coaches.” You don’t have to be an expert, just someone willing to try and help fix something that’s broken. Many volunteer coaches at past events had no professional experience, just life experience fixing things that broke in their own homes. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own tools, and the University Heights Tool Library provides some tools, spare parts, duct tape etc. for fixers to use.
For more information or to offer your services as a volunteer fixer, call (716) 683-5959.
