The Department of Public Works handles the following services for village of depew residents:
- Garbage Collection & Recycling

Porter Service for Garbage and Recycling is available for those in medical need. Application must be filled out and submitted to the Superintendent of Public Works.
Additional Garbage totes are $50.25 for the 95 Gallon and $44.72 for the 65 Gallon
On which holidays is garbage not collected?
New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day (If the holiday falls on a weekday, collection will be one day later for that day and each day after for the week of the holiday)
When is large trash pickup?
TWO items will be picked up per week with your regular tote garbage pickup. Large trash are items that would not normally fit in the tote due to size, such as mattresses and boxsprings. No white goods, electronics, electrical goods or bags. Carpet and wood must be cut down to four (4) foot sections and bundled, each bundle weighing no more than 60 pounds. Sleeper sofas must have the metal bed frame and mattress removed. Windows/Mirrors must have all glass broken out of them. Then the framing is to be broken down and bundled in four (4) foot sections. All doors must be cut in half to meet the four (4) foot restriction.
To dispose of WHITE GOODS:
For Disposal of refrigerators/freezers (fee applies), hot water tanks, dishwashers, stoves, washers/dryers - A resident MUST CALL the Treasurer/Clerk's Office at 683-7451 for a pickup. Refrigerator doors are to be duct taped. Items are to be left at the curb after their pickup has been paid for and scheduled with the Clerk's Office. Items will be picked up by the Department of Public Works.
Portable A/C units (fee applies) are drop off only at 200 Rutherford Pl during office hours of 7:30am-3:00pm Monday through Friday
There is a fee for disposal of $15 for Refrigerators, Freezers, and AC Units. You must pay the fees at the Village of Depew Treasurer/Clerk's Office during normal office hours of 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. You will be provided a pick-up date (non-portable units only) at time of payment. Please attach your paid receipt to you appliance as proof of payment for the pickup.
to dispose of hypodermic needles/syringes/expired medications:
Effective March 1, 2015, all Needles, syringes and expired drugs must be disposed of at a designated drop off facility. A list of drop of locations can be found here.
Drop Off Service only! You can drop your tires off at the Department of Public Works between 7:00 am and 2:30 pm Monday through Friday at a charge of $3.00 per passenger tire and $10.00 per truck tire.

Electronics drop off
Effective October 10, 2014 the Village will no longer accept TV's and electronic devices. These items can be dropped off at the County recycling events held through the year.

SNOW PLOWING & SNOW PLOW PERMITS
During the winter months, the Department of Public Works plows and salts all Village Roadways. Sidewalk maintenance is the responsibility of the property owner. Parking restrictions are in effect from November 15 thru March 15 annually. There is no parking on Village roadways during this time for the hours of 2AM‐7AM.

Form must be completed and returned to the Clerk's Office. Download the required form here. The Public Works Department completes tree trims and removals in the winter months on trees located in the Village Right of Ways. If a tree needs to be trimmed or removed, please fill out the appropriate form and return to the Village Clerks office. Tree trimming and removals are done during the winter months.
There have been reports of the Emerald Ash Borer in our area. Please see the Guide to the Emeral Ash Borer for any questions.
When placing brush out for pickup, branches are not to exceed ten inches (10”) in diameter and eight feet (8’) in length. Cut ends are to be facing the street and piled as neatly as possible. All bushes, trees, etc. must have the stumps and/or root balls removed and placed separately from the brush pile.
Roots and Stumps are picked up usually once a week and should be placed in a separate pile as they cannot go through the chipper. If you require a pick up, please call the Public Works Department (716‐683‐5700) and you will be placed on a list.
The Village of Depew does NOT pick up grass clippings, waste products, railroad ties, bags of leaves, small branches & trimmings or any building debris.
During the fall, our leaf picker will pick up leaves. Leaves should be raked to the curb into piles. Do NOT rake leaves into the street. There is no need to call for this service as our leaf pickers go out street by street throughout the Village until the first snowfall. The Village of Depew does NOT pick up leaves in garbage bags.
STORM & SANITARY SEWER MAINTENANCE & REPAIR
For sewer concerns, including recurring situations, please contact the Department of Public Works between the hours of 7am‐2:30pm, Monday through Friday. If an emergency occurs after hours, or on a weekend or holiday please contact the Village Police Department at 716‐683‐1123 for assistance. They will be able to contact a DPW employee to address the situation as deemed necessary

PAVING & ROAD MAINTENANCE
The Department of Public Works paves Village roadways during the summer months on designated streets annually. Potholes are repaired year round and if there is a pothole that needs to be addressed, please contact the Public Works Department. Upon notification of the issue, we will send a crew out to look and repair, if necessary.
